Guys, the EDGE PRO stock stones are more than sufficient and you will get your knives insanely sharp. As a normal user I absolutely don't see any reason to buy the Chosera- or Shapton-stones. Grid cannot be the reason for it. Compare the grids on the Edge Pro web site (Sharpening Tips -> 8. Crossover Chart). Maybe professional sharpeners need that stuff (reason?) but for me (or you?) there's no wish left. For an EDC folder or kitchen knive you will not need the highest grids. It's not by accident that the basic edge pro version 'only' comes with 220 and 400 grid stones. You'll get veeery sharp knives with these grids, especially if you reduce the rest of the burr with a strop. But if you want a polished edge, you will need the highest grids along with the polishing tapes. The polishing tapes work very well. First make one or two pull strokes. I never had a problem with the blade cutting into the tape after two pull strokes. Use the Edge Pro Glass Blank for the tapes. Let's go the whole hog.
